The Yosemite Chapel- The Yosemite Chapel, located in Yosemite Valley, became listed on the prestigious National Register of Historic Places in 1973, based on its "simple architecture" that was representative of "a particularly fine example of the early chapels constructed in the Sierra Nevada Mountains."
Mariposa Grove- Mariposa Grove boasts the largest stand of Sequoia trees in Yosemite National Park. There are over 500 trees in the Upper and Lower groves. These towering monarchs are grown from tiny seeds no larger than a flake of oatmeal.
El Capitan- El Capitan, soaring more than 3,000 feet above the valley floor, is often said to be one of the highest vertical granite walls on earth. El Capitan is composed almost entirely of granite, a pale and coarse-grained granite emplaced approximately 100 million years ago.
Nevada Fall- Visitors reach the top of Nevada Fall by hiking from Yosemite Valley beyond Vernal Fall, or by the Panorama Trail from Glacier Point. The trail to Half Dome continues from this point at the top of Nevada Fall.
Glacier Point- Glacier Point (7,214 ft.) affords the visitor a panoramic view of Yosemite's distinctive landscape of mountain peaks. The granite landmark, Half Dome, rising to an elevation of 8,839 feet, is the most striking feature and is a well-known symbol of Yosemite National Park. The same vista at Glacier Point provides visitors with a view of the waterfalls of the 'giant staircase', Nevada Fall (upper) and Vernal Fall (lower).
Vernal Fall- Lafayette Bunnell, a member of the Mariposa Battalion that discovered Yosemite Valley in 1851, named Vernal Fall. He wrote that "he named it because of the cool, vernal spray."
Valley View- The Gates of the Valley, also known as Valley View, is near the western end of Yosemite Valley, along Northside Drive as you're driving towards the valley exits. No doubt you already knew this, but that's El Capitan on the left and Bridalveil Fall on the right, with just a corner of Sentinel Rock visible in the background.
Yosemite Falls- Yosemite Falls is the tallest waterfall in North America. It plunges 2,454 feet over three cataracts, Upper Yosemite Fall (1,430 ft.), Middle Cascade (675 ft.) and Lower Yosemite Fall (320 ft.).
Tunnel View- Tunnel View is one of the most famous views of Yosemite Valley. From here, you can see El Capitan and Bridalveil Fall rising from Yosemite Valley with Half Dome in the background. This vista is at the east end of the Wawona Tunnel along the Wawona Road.
Lembert Dome- Lembert Dome is a granite dome rock formation in Yosemite National Park. The dome soars 800 feet above Tuolumne Meadows and the Tuolumne River and can be hiked starting at the Tioga Road in the heart of Tuolumne Meadows, 8 miles west of the Tioga Pass Entrance to Yosemite National Park.
Half Dome- Half Dome is a granite dome at the eastern end of Yosemite Valley, possibly the Valley's most familiar sight. The granite crest rises more than 4,737 feet (1,440 m) above the Valley floor.
Yosemite National Park- First protected in 1864, Yosemite National Park is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more.
